Security officer charged with murder
A 37-year-old security officer, of Port Maria, St Mary, has been charged with January 12 murder of Dellevale Bambury, a businessman of Iteboreale, Annotto Bay, who was shot and killed on Chovey main road in the parish.
Rajiv Bentley was charged on December 21, following intensive investigation by the police.
The 72-year-old Bambury, who operated a cambio, was attacked and shot by men travelling in a silver Toyota Probox about 6 p.m. Reports from the Annotto Bay police are that he was driving his pickup motor truck along the roadway when he was pounced upon by assailants travelling in a motor car, who opened gunfire hitting him. The police were summoned and on their arrival, Bambury was seen slumped over in the vehicle; which had run off the road into a nearby gully. The vehicle was searched and more than $7 million was found in a bag inside the vehicle.
Bambury was transported to hospital where his death was confirmed.
