‘Just go for it’ - Men urged to be brave and pop the question on New Year’s Eve
New Year's Eve is considered to be the height of 'engagement season' as it is generally a time when bold lads get on their knees and pop the question to their lady loves.
But not many men are as brave as Narmeo Walker, who proposed to his then girlfriend, Tashanna, as thousands rang in the new year on the Kingston Waterfront in 2020. The magical moment was broadcast live on television.
After being swept off her feet by her husband's grand proposal on New Year's Eve, Tashanna is encouraging men not to be afraid to pop the big question, but only if they are sure their partners want to get married.
"If you're going to propose to someone, first you have to talk to them about marriage. Find out where they are at, in that sense, before you go ahead and propose. If you are not too certain, it wouldn't be a good idea to propose to that person in front of a big crowd," she said.
The 26-year-old also told THE WEEKEND STAR that although she considers herself a shy person, she enjoyed her proposal.
"It was a little unexpected, but also exciting for me even though I am an introvert. I actually liked the proposal I got, it's like something that every woman has dreamed about getting. This big proposal for everybody to see, it's something memorable," Tashanna said.
Similarly, Walker, her husband of three years, told THE WEEKEND STAR that for him, proposing on New Year's Eve was the best decision he has ever made.
"It was one of the best moments of my life, I can tell you that... . If I could go back in the past, I would do it all over again," he said.
His advice to men who are considering to pop the big question not to be shy and consider making New Year's Eve even more special by asking their significant other to marry them.
"My advice is to go for it," Walker said.
