‘Swible’ charged following New Year's Eve shooting

The Manchester police say they have arrested and charged 20-year-old Tyrese ‘Swible’ Smile, after he allegedly fired several shots at them during a robbery on Sunday. 

He was charged with assault with intent to rob, assault at common law, non-fatal shooting of male suspect and unauthorised possession of firearm and ammunition.

It is reported that about 3:45 p.m. on New Year's Eve, Smile and a man drove to a mini mart in Comfort District when an argument developed with another man and a tussle ensued.

Lawmen who were on patrol saw what was happening and attempted to intervened, when they Smile opened gunfire at them before escaping with his accomplice.

Soon after, the police received information that Smile was being treat at the hospital for gunshot injuries.

He was accosted and gave the lawmen information on the whereabouts of the firearm. One Glock pistol with a magazine containing 17 rounds was recovered.

He was subsequently arrested and charged. His court dated is being finalised.
