Artiste manager feeds homeless on New Year’s Day
On New Year's Day, artiste manager Danvoy 'Nah Change' Foster feted windshield wipers and some homeless persons to hot meals and drinks to start their new year afresh.
He said he spent more than $200,000 to prepare 500 meals and refreshments.
"I think more persons, not only in the entertainment industry, should give back. This is not just something weh me cook up or hurry up come up thing, a good food we cook and put time into it because they [windshield wipers and homeless persons] a human beings too. God has blessed us with so many shows and so many bookings so we have to give back," said Foster. He told THE STAR that the moment was in the making before Christmas.
"I have been saying I want to give back because God has blessed me a lot and I said New Year's Day, I would start off the year positive and give back to the homeless and the yute dem at the stoplight [along Marcus Garvey Drive in St Andrew], who nuh really have it. I think we should bring back the love," he told the news team. Foster is the manager for dancehall artiste Fully Bad, given name Nicholas Bartley, one of two performers who caused an impromptu end to the 40th staging of Sting on Boxing Day. He and Honormosity got into a physical altercation onstage that spilled over into the crowd. However, Foster stressed that his actions were not a ploy to distract the public from the fracas.
"Memba say Sting is a platform where nothing weh happen ... you can get out a the people dem mind. This nuh have nothing to do with Sting, this is just me giving back. This is a genuine thing," he said.
Foster expressed hope that more efforts will be made in 2024 to have the windshield wipers and homeless persons removed from the street.
"A lot of frustration deh pon dem brain and dem nuh comfortable with dem life. Me feel like the Government fi enrol them in some skills training and get them up to standard. My wish is for them to come off the road and if we can get 50 or 100 off the road, that would be a great thing," he said.
