Alleged phone robber jailed

A 22-year-old man who allegedly robbed persons of their cellular phones at gunpoint has been slapped with several serious criminal charges.

Police said that the accused, Ricardo Davey, a construction worker of Rodney Hall Road, Linstead, St Catherine, stole two LG cellular phones and iPhone from his victims in two separate incidents in Spring Gully district, Linstead, St Catherine.

In the first incident, which was allegedly committed at 11 p.m. on December 26, 2023, the accused, who was reportedly armed with a firearm, held up and robbed the complainant of two LG phones valued at $25,000 each and fled the area on foot.

The next day, about midnight, Davey allegedly held up a second person and robbed him of his iPhone 6 cellular phone valued at $40,000.

Investigations led to the arrest of Davey after he was positively pointed out by the complainants in an identification parade. He has been charged with two counts of robbery with aggravation, possession of a prohibited weapon, and using a weapon to commit a felony.
