No salary increase for FLA, staff go on strike

January 17, 2024

Following months of negotiations with the Ministry of Finance, the staff of the Firearm Licensing Authority (FLA) were reportedly advised they will not be getting pay increases.

In response, all employees have gone on strike "until further notice", the FLA said in a statement.

The STAR understands the action began on Tuesday.

"The staff of the FLA views the Ministry's response as a blatant disregard for the workers' rights to proper compensation.  As such, they are no longer interested in continuing these discussions and now seek the intervention of the government at the highest level," the FLA said.
