Higgler must get anger management counselling

A 41-year-old higgler was ordered to attend anger management counselling, after he admitted to hitting his child's mother for not properly attending to their sick one-year-old.

"Your Honour, me left her inna the house and come back and see the baby a vomit and me say to her say, 'Yuh leave the baby by herself make she put dirty stuff in her mouth that's why she a vomit up the place from night till a morning' and that anger me," Demar Oakley explained.

Oakley appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday on a charge of unlawful wounding. Prosecutors contend that on December 26, there was an argument between Oakley and the complainant, when he punched her in her face and ears which caused a wound that bled. He further head-butted her.

"I was upset Your Honour," the defendant told Chief Parish Judge Chester Crooks.

The couple, who also share five-year-old twins, were referred to counselling by the chief jurist and are expected to return to court on April 18, when Oakley is to be sentenced. A fingerprint order was made for him. - T.T.
