A Corporate Area teenager was moved to tears on Wednesday as she related her embarrassment at being taken into custody by police officers, only garbed in a towel.

"A murder did gwaan in my lane and the police dem come and do dem operation and I was outside my gate. Dem [the police] pick up my cousin and me did have a knife a peel a orange and dem send me up inna the jeep and me say 'Offica, me nah go in deh because me nuh have no panty' and him push me and me say 'Don't push me yuh nuh hear me say me nah go in deh' and dem push me up in the jeep and carry me guh City Centre [Police Station] in the towel," a teary-eyed Mickaylia Wright explained.

Wright, 19, was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and being armed with an offensive weapon following an incident earlier this month. She denied resisting arrest, saying she only requested that she be allowed to properly dress herself before being handcuffed.

However prosecutors in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court contend that police were conducting an operation within the community in which Wright resides, when she came out of her house and started hurling insults and using profanity at the police.

"You actually did resist arrest because you didn't comply," the prosecutor said.

"You shouldn't be outside your home in a towel, not even at your gate, much less on the road," added presiding Judge Carlo Mason.

Wright was then fined $4000 or 15 days' imprisonment for being armed with an offensive weapon, and $2000 or 15 days for disorderly conduct. Another fine of $2000 or 15 days' imprisonment for resisting arrest was also imposed.
