Defendant says medication makes him move like a robot

The St James Parish Court has ordered a psychiatric evaluation for a man who reportedly attacked and stabbed a food vendor last month, ahead of his next court appearance on March 21.

Presiding parish judge Sasha-Marie Ashley made the order in relation to Enoch Green, of a Hanover address, who was before the court on Wednesday on a charge of unlawful wounding. The court was told that on December 31, 2023, the complainant was preparing food for his cart along St James Street in Montego Bay, when Green approached him and stabbed him in the neck and chest. The complainant said that he had not known Green prior to that confrontation.

Green admitted that he had a similar matter in Hanover with a February 22 court date. The court was then told that Green has been receiving medication at the Cornwall Regional Hospital and the Granville Health Centre for health challenges.

"I got an injection, but I don't like it because it makes me move like a robot ... the pills are fine but I don't have any," Green replied.

Ashley subsequently ordered the psychiatric evaluation and that contact should be made with his doctor regarding possible adjustment of his medication. Green was remanded and ordered to submit his fingerprints to the police.
