A man is dead, and at least seven persons, including an eight-year-old boy, have been hospitalised, after the Isuzu truck they were travelling in lost control while driving down a steep incline in Holly Hill, Darliston in Westmoreland.

The STAR understands that the deceased, who is a market vendor, was en route to the Savanna-la-Mar market about 5:30 this morning, when the truck reportedly swung off the road and ended up in a gully.

Councillor of the Darliston Division, Jerome Bacchas confirmed the details to our news team earlier today.

Those hospitalised, he said, are currently receiving treatment at the Savanna-la-Mar hospital.
