St James arrested following firearm seizure

The police in St James have taken into custody a man from the parish after he was found with an illegal firearm in his possession on Thursday.

According to the Montego Bay Police, about 7:30 p.m., a team of officers were on patrol along Farm Heights main road, in the parish when they saw a white Nissan AD wagon motor car with no registration plate affixed.

The driver was signalled to stop, to which he complied.

He was searched; one Taurus G3 Pistol with an empty magazine was taken from his waistband. The vehicle was searched and another empty magazine found.

He was subsequently taken into custody. His identity is being withheld pending further investigations.
