21-year-old found with firearm on coaster bus
A passenger on a bus in Spanish Town, St Catherine, was taken into police custody after an illegal firearm under his seat over the weekend.
It is reported the 21-year-old was on a Toyota coaster bus which was stopped during an operation along Burke Road, after the driver was seen obstructing traffic. .
However, after the vehicle was intercepted, and the driver prosecuted for his actions, a search by the police lead to the discovery of the illegal gun under the passenger's seat.
Police checks revealed it was Taurus pistol affixed with a magazine containing six rounds of ammunition. Further investigations led the lawmen to Davis District near Old Harbour, where a .38 revolver was discovered near under rock near a building.
The suspect on the bus was taken into custody on suspicion of being in possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.
Investigations continues in the other seizure.
