'Smurf' charged with shooting in Franklyn Town
The Denham Town police say they have laid charges against Alex 'Smurf' Sangster, who was allegedly involved in a shooting in Franklyn Town in Kingston last August.
The 23-year-old construction worker has been charged with shooting with intent, possession of prohibited weapon, unauthorised possession of ammunition and use of a firearm to commit a felony.
According to the police, about 7:15 p.m. on August 9, 2023, a man was sitting at the intersection of Nuttall and Victoria Streets, when he was pounced upon by Sangster and two other men, all armed with firearms.
The men opened gunfire at the man who ran in a bid to escape injury and the attackers escaped into the area.
When the shooting subsided, it was discovered that the man and a woman, who was in close proximity at the time of the incident, were injured.
They were assisted to hospital, where they were treated.
A report was made to the police and Sangster was arrested during an operation on Saturday, January 13. He was subsequently charged on Sunday, January 28.
His court date is being arranged.
