A Corporate Area man is expected to repay his girlfriend almost $200,000 after he is alleged to have stolen money from her bag and used it to gamble.

Rhajay Green appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday to answer to a charge of simple larceny. However, he contends that he did not steal the funds from his girlfriend. The court heard that Green took $500,000 from the complainant's bag and only returned home with $320,000. He is alleged to have gambled away $180,0000.

"Your Honour, I want back the money because it is to fix up my house. I check off the money and I give him money out of it. I give my daughter, I give my son, I give my mother and him guh take more out of the money to show yuh how this man wicked Your Honour," the complainant told presiding Judge Carlo Mason.

"This shouldn't even deh before the court yuh know. A joke thing this, Jah Jah," Green expressed, holding his hand above his head as he stood in the prisoner's dock.

Green is to return to court on March 19, with all of the sums to repay the complainant.
