‘She’s the one for me’ - Stunt rider Daylight proposes to his ‘ride or die’

Shenice Davidson said she had plans of treating her boyfriend Barrington 'Daylight' Heslop of three years on Valentine's Day, but the young businessman had other plans for her.

Heslop, a prominent stunt rider and owner of Daylight Motor Sports, popped the big question to his girlfriend on the universal day of love.

"When he asked for my hand in marriage, I said, 'Yes, no doubt', and I must tell you that it was the happiest day of my life. I am still on cloud nine," Davidson told THE STAR.

The 26-year-old said she had a full day's plan for Heslop, which included him visiting the spa and watching Bob Marley: One Love at Carib Theatre in Cross Roads, St Andrew. She even planned for a romantic dinner and fireworks after the movie.

"He is not the planner, I am, so I had a day prepared for him. I told him I wanted to get dressed early for dinner as I wanted good photos. He started finding other things that he needed to get done; and he knows once he mentioned the business, I am going to step back and allow him to do what needs to be done. He said he needed to check on some of his rental cars, so I told him, okay," she said.

Davidson said when Daylight started buying more time, she became a bit annoyed and questioned if his other plans could not be done at a later date.

"I had a gift for him and I just wanted to give him before dusk, as I already knew the angle that I wanted the pics to be taken from, and it was important that the photos be taken before we lost the natural light. We were heading to dinner and he started to make a 'bag' of stops; and I told him he had all the time in the world, and asked if he really needed to do all these things now," she related.

Davidson said he told her that he had to make a final stop, as he was about to pick up her gift. He also told her that he needed to blindfold her and she should hold on to the gift carefully as it was made of glass.

"Mi start wonder what kind of glass gift it was, and I started imagining all the things that were made with glass. Him keep on a spin, spin, and night was coming down. I calmed down and waited on my glass gift. We got to the location, which was my uncle's house. He removed my blindfold and got down on one knee and proposed," Davidson said.

At this moment, Davidson said she was dumbstruck. She said she instantly wondered how he had managed to plan such an awesome surprise, and even wondered how her loved ones, including her mother, got to the venue so fast.

"I just left my mom at home; and she was there at the engagement. I saw my sister in Three Miles and wondered how she got there so fast. I was really surprised and very happy," she said.

An elated Daylight told THE STAR that he has found the love of life and knew that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her from day one.

"From I met her, I just knew that she was the one for me. She treats me really well and she is always beside me. She is a real one, and one that has my back all the time," he said.
