A man from the Corporate Area has confessed to committing two counts of robbery at the Kingston Public Hospital by posing as a patient in need of medical attention.

The man, Michael Webster, stole valuables amounting to $128,000 from security guards.

During the proceedings at the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Wednesday, it was revealed that on January 8 and 29, Webster presented himself as a patient at the hospital, claiming to require medical attention.

Despite being directed to the patient care areas, he unlawfully accessed the security guards' room. Webster confessed to stealing a bag containing a cellphone and personal belongings valued at $100,000, along with another Samsung cellphone valued at $28,000.

"It was the security at KPH that catch him about two weeks ago, because he would even come on the compound in the [security] uniform," one complainant informed Chief Parish Judge Chester Crooks.

Webster was not allowed by judge Crooks to give an explanation for his actions.

"You are going to talk with the probation officers and explain why you did what you did," the judge instructed.

Webster was made the subject of a fingerprint order and was remanded in custody until May 21 when he is to be sentenced.
