The St Andrew North police are investigating an incident which happened over the weekend involving dancehall artiste Popcaan.

Superintendent Sherika Service, who is the head of the division, confirmed the incident which happened along Constant Spring Road. However, she did not give any details.

"I cannot speak to it at this moment as I am awaiting a further brief on the matter," Service told THE STAR.

A video purportedly showing the incident has been circulating on social media. There are allegations that an impromptu bike show was taking place along the roadway, which appeared to be barricaded. In the video, a police officer and Popcaan, whose given name is Andrae Sutherland, got into a tussle and had to be separated while onlookers videoed the incident on their smartphones.

Last month, the entertainer pleaded guilty to several charges including disorderly conduct, using abusive and calumnious language following an incident as lawmen called time on his Unruly Fest show in St Thomas in December. The entertainer was also fined $40,000 for breaching the Noise Abatement Act.
