68-year-old Westmoreland man charged for shooting at couple

The police in Westmoreland have charged a 68-year-old man for shooting at a couple following an argument.

Keith Spence, otherwise called ‘Trash’, a farmer of Porters Mountain district in the parish, is charged with two counts of shooting with intent, using a prohibited weapon to commit a felony, and possession of a prohibited weapon.

The police say the incident happened at his home on Friday, April 12.

Reports are that about 7 p.m., Spence and a couple were arguing at his home when Spence told them to leave.

The police say the couple made their way outside and stood along the roadway when Spence brandished a handgun and opened gunfire at them.

They ran and escaped without injuries.

A report was made to the police and on Sunday, April 14, Spence surrendered to the police.

He was thereafter charged on Monday, April 15.
