King Alarm guard charged with assault of 9-year-old girl at UWI

A security guard working at the University of the West Indies, Mona has been charged with the assault of a nine-year-old girl.

The police say the incident happened on Monday.

The matter is still under investigation.

Commander of the St Andrew Central Police Division Senior Superintendent Marlon Nesbeth told our news team that the guard, who remains in custody, is employed to the security company contracted by the university.

The King Alarm group is contracted by the university to provide security services.

Nesbeth said, “We are investigating that it was a sexual attempt also.”

It is understood that an alarm was raised and the child was rescued by passers-by.

The guard, who attempted to flee, was subsequently held.

The Campus Director of Security has also confirmed the incident.
