60-year-old Westmoreland man charged for allegedly raping teen girl

A 60-year-old construction worker of Retreat district, Little London, Westmoreland has been charged with rape and sexual touching following two separate incidents which occurred between September to December 2021.

Charged is Gerald Whyte of the address mentioned above.

Facts from the Savanna-la-mar police are that between the months and year mentioned above a teen girl was sent by her mother on several occasions to collect money.

During one of her visits, Whyte allegedly assaulted the teen and on the second occasion reportedly had sexual intercourse with the against her will.

A report was made to the police with regards to the incident and a complainant statement recorded.

On Wednesday July 17, lawmen conducted a raid at Whyte’s home where he seen, arrested and charged for the offences.

His court date is being finalised.
