Two Corporate Area men were chided by a senior parish judge on Tuesday, following allegations that they attempted to skim almost $40,000 from Courts Jamaica through petty cash vouchers.

Allegations detailed in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court state that sometime in March, Omar Ameer and Odeen Johnson visited the offices of Courts Jamaica in Cross Roads, St Andrew, with petty cash vouchers valued at $39,765. It is alleged that the men attempted to use the vouchers to obtain food and juice at the furniture and appliance store.

"Really? $39,000? There's no furniture or glasses at Courts valued that amount. Unnu really get lock up over $39,000?" senior jurist Sanchia Burrell expressed. The men, who did not enter a plea to the allegations, were remanded in custody to settle their legal representation. They were also made subjects of fingerprint orders and are to return to court on May 6, when the matter is set for mention.
