A Corporate Area man who allegedly conned a potential client out of $15 million was remanded in custody when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court on Tuesday.

Gerald Pusey was arraigned for one count of obtaining money by means of false pretence. It is alleged that Pusey introduced himself to the complainant as a manager of one of the island's manufacturing and distribution companies. Pusey informed the complainant that given his job position, he would be able to provide goods at a cheaper rate for purchasing. The complainant paid more than $15 million to Pusey for goods, but when the items were not delivered, calls to Pusey went unanswered.

An investigation was launched and it was discovered that Pusey was employed to the company as a bearer, however, his contract was terminated. Prosecutors related to parish judge Carlo Mason that Pusey is a blogger and it was through those videos that he was subsequently apprehended by the police.

Pusey did not enter a plea to the charge and was made the subject of a fingerprint order. He was remanded until May 3, when it is expected that his legal representation will be settled. A subpoena was issued for the complainant and the investigator to attend court.
