A growing number of Jamaican women are turning to a novel way of earning money by using an app called Texkings. The platform allows users to get paid for sending casual and erotic text messages to male clients.

"I made almost $100,000 in one week just by texting men online. It's a side hustle, and I'm gonna teach you how," stated a female TikTok user ,who highlighted her experience with the app.

According to the Texkings website, the platform offers payouts starting at US$100 (approximately J$15,600) for chatting, with no requirement for video calls. Users can work from anywhere in the world, and no prior experience is needed. The service ensures private and secure conversations between 'text chat operators' and clients.

"There are no limits on the amount of money you can make. The average pay is US$100, and the more hours you work, the more you earn. Some companies are willing to pay anywhere from US$35 to US$70 an hour," the TikTok user highlighted.

Khalia, a 24-year-old, recently registered on the app and is in the process of setting up her PayPal account and has yet to cash out.

"I am always on my phone, so just responding to messages and getting paid is easy money. So why not?" she said of her decision to join Texkings.

A call centre worker, Khalia said she became aware of the Texkings app after she heard some other females saying they have been making money from it. She told THE STAR that she decided to research the app because she found herself in need of money.

"I don't think I will meet these people in real life, and nuff female out there a do much worse than texting and flirting," she said, having decided to become a text chat operator.

As a call centre agent, Khalia said she earns up to $60,000 per month and is eagerly anticipating the possibility of doubling her salary with low effort.

"I don't plan to do it as a full-time job, but it can help me do some things. If I can benefit from it like the other girls, I am going to take the opportunity," he said.
