Man allegedly attacks policeman with pickaxe
A policeman on Thursday was reportedly forced to fire a warning shot from his licensed gun to stop a man from attacking him with a pickaxe while at a premises in Lauriston, Spanish Town, St Catherine.
The incident is being probed by the Independent Commission of Investigations.
Reports are that about 7:00 a.m. the cop went to Kim Drive in the community to pick up his common-law wife.
The policeman reportedly noticed the 54-year-old man and asked why he was there.
The man reportedly began to behave boisterously and allegedly pulled his pickaxe to attack the officer.
When the man reportedly disobeyed an order to drop the tool, the officer brandished his weapon and fired a warning shot in the air to stop the attack.
