Alleged goat thieves remanded
Four alleged goat thieves were today remanded in the St Catherine Parish Court.
Shamay Riley, Chamru Williamson, Andre Bailey and Kadrie Parker, all of Linstead addresses, are charged with receiving stolen property.
Williamson and Riley are also charged with conspiracy while Bailey and Parker are charged with larceny.
They are to reappear in court on November 15.
Allegations are that on August 15, Riley borrowed a car from a friend, which he then loaned to Williamson.
The vehicle was allegedly used to steal goats.
The owner of the livestock reported the matter to the police.
The car was subsequently stopped by the police on an operation in Central Village in the parish with the goats aboard.
When the men could not give a satisfactory account of the goats in their possession they were taken in custody on suspicion of unlawful possession of property.
The owner of the goats turned up at the police station and positively identified his animals.
Further investigation by the police led to the arrest of Riley after the owner of the motor car visited the station and made enquiries about his vehicle.
All four men were formally charged.
