A 20-year-old Corporate Area woman is expected to be sentenced before the Yuletide season, following her admission of guilt to assaulting a female district constable and another member of the constabulary.

Theresa Paisley is charged on an indictment for assault occasioning actual bodily harm, assaulting district constable, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. She plead guilty to all the charges except the disorderly conduct. The prosecution contends that on October 15 about 11:45 p.m., Paisley was brought to the Fletcher's Land Police Station as she was the subject of a police report for threat against a man. While the man's statement was being collected, Paisley started to behave in a boisterous manner inside the police station.

The female complainant tried to lay hold of Paisley, who said, "Yuh nah put my hand inna handcuff," while pulling away from the district constable. She then punched the complainant in the chest and grabbed her by her uniform. Paisley was subsequently apprehended by a male officer, who was also assaulted in the melee.

"I need to hear the why, what about this gentleman triggered her [Paisley] so," Chief Parish Judge Chester Crooks said.

The matter was adjourned until December 16 for the district constable to attend. It is expected that compensation will be made for the injuries she received during the incident.
