Man held with imitation firearm
The St James police charged a man with possession of prohibited weapon following an incident on Barnett Street, Montego Bay, on February 20.
Charged is 27-year-old Kevin Smith, a taxi operator of Rosemount Gardens in the parish. Reports from the Montego Bay police are that at 11 p.m., the complainant was driving along the roadway when his vehicle collided with a 2010 Toyota Noah motor car driven by Smith. The complainant then exited his vehicle to check the damages when he observed Smith approaching with what appeared to be firearm in his waistband. He then got back into his vehicle and drove to the Barnett Street Police Station where he was chased by Smith.
Upon reaching the station, he made a report to the police and a search of Smith's vehicle was conducted. During the search an imitation gun was found. Smith was subsequently arrested and charged. A court date is being arranged.
