'Stamma' shot and killed by police in alleged shootout in Kingston
The Independent Commission of Investigations is probing the fatal shooting of a man during an alleged confrontation with lawmen in Western Kingston yesterday.
Dead is 26-year-old Kamau Dewdney otherwise called "Stamma" of Drecketts Place, Kingston 14.
Reports are that about 5:40 a.m., police personnel went to Drecketts Place in Tivoli Gardens.
During the operation the team was allegedly challenged by Dewdney.
The police took evasive action and fired which resulted in Dewdney's injuries.
The cops allegedly seized one Springfield nine millimetre pistol, affixed with a magazine and six rounds of ammunition.
A further search resulted in a Glock 45 pistol loaded with six rounds and two additional magazines and an additional six rounds of ammunition reportedly seized.
He was assisted to the Kingston Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
