Fashion at political gatherings has always had a look of excitement and creativity.

This time around, the fashion game took an interesting turn as a number of women were contending with the blazing heat at the Jamaica Labour Party's (JLP) mass rally on Sunday, turning up in bikinis and skimpy cover-ups, a bold choice for the political stage.

The crowd was treated to sights more common at a beach party than a mass meeting. One woman, blessed with a lot of derriere, was spotted twerking in a green bikini bottom, with only a shirt covering her top. Another strutted through the crowd in a green sequined bra and matching panties, topped off with black stockings tied with green bows for her idea of a 'cover-up'.

Then there was 31-year-old Allman Town resident Regina Dennis, rocking a green crochet bikini under her branded T-shirt as she sipped on an alcoholic beverage.

"Mass rally mean excitement and vibes," she told THE STAR. "We come out looking good when a regular conference, so for the rally we haffi come out fi wi prime minister! A third term!"

Dennis, who has four children, said this is just how she and her crew roll when it's "Labourite time".

"This nuh new to me. Meeting, conference, rally, we deh an all a dem and a so we dress," she said.

Speaking on what matters to her during this political season, she praised Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness, but moreso her member of parliament, Donovan Williams, of Kingston Central.

"Andrew a do a whole eep fi di country, but yuh see my MP Donovan Williams, 'Impact Boss', him do whole heap fi wi. Him neva leff we out. Mi have a shop right now because a the help weh him give me. Him mek me as a young girl have a business," she said.

In another corner of the rally, Old Harbour's Oshin Allen, a well-known dancer and creative in her community, showed up in her own touch of fashion.

"We just come fi support wi party and we always do it inna style. Mi know mi look good so mi just wear what me want," she said.

When asked if she was worried her outfit might go viral, Allen retorted "Anybody know me, know seh me nuh care!"
