St Jago High School's Natalliah Whyte and the Excelsior pair of Nathan Brown and Andel Miller were on the double on Saturday at the Wesley Powell Invitational Track and Field Meet on the grounds of Excelsior High.

Whyte, who was a finalist in the 200 metres two years ago at the World Junior Championships in Eugene, Oregon, and one of the country's hopefuls for next year's Championships, started her season on a good note.

In her first event of the day, she topped the Class One 300 metres in a record 40.22 seconds, and erased her teammate Shanice Reid's year old record of 40.55 seconds.

St Jago's athletes occupied the top three placings with Tissanna Hickling (41.18) and Reid (41.51) winning heats to finish second and third overall.

Whyte also topped the field in the Class One girls 600 m where she stopped the clock at 1:40.4.

Abbigaye McTavish of Excelsior was second overall in 1:40.6. Whyte's teammate, Andrenette Knight was third best overall in 1:40.7.

Brown gave his home supporters a lot to cheer about completing the double in his class. He was best in the boys 1000m with a time of 2:42.3. Dwayne Pinnock (2:42.6) and Keiran Pryce (2:45.6) of Exed Community College were second and third overall.

Earlier, Brown and Camperdown High's Caliph Mais had joint fastest times in the Class One 600 m where they posted a new record of 1:24.6.

Jamaica College's Ricardo Francis was third in 1:26.5.

Miller was best overall in Class One in the 150 m and 300 m.

Miller's winning overall time in the 150 m was 17.7 seconds and in the 300 m he did 36.62 seconds.
