New look West Indies to be unveiled soon
President of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Dave Cameron, has said that in a matter of weeks, the body is expected to roll out its new business arm: Cricket West Indies.
The new entity, which according to Cameron, is akin to a recommendation by CARICOM to dissolve the WICB, will be largely responsible for the operational side of the board.
This is in addition to the board of directors, which will function from a policy perspective.
"We have dissolved the West Indies Cricket Board. The new entity will be Cricket West Indies going forward," Cameron said after the board's recent AGM.
"We have actually accepted one of the recommendations and will be moving forward on that.
"We have agreed, as well, to create a commercial entity, and (via contracts), we will soon be starting to roll that out," he added.
Cameron, in prior expressions of the name change, said that the name WICB represented "baggage" and that his administration was keen on repositioning the association as a modern organisation.
The rebranding, in the meanwhile, according to WICB chief executive Michael Muirhead, was done with full approval of the board members.
