Defending champions Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) dropped their first major points of the season after surrendering first innings to St James Cricket Association in the fourth round of the Jamaica Cricket Association's Senior Cup last weekend at Barnett Oval.

Batting first, the soldiers were limited to 224, with Rasheed Outar, 82, leading the way against Andrew Walker, four for 26.

Damion Douglas hit 123 as St James posted 335 in their first innings. Joseph Palmer claimed four for 40.

Batting a second time, the army men closed on 224 for five, with Jermaine Harrison hitting 108.

In another match, Kensington led St Elizabeth CA on first innings at Treasure Beach.

Kensington first put up 244, with David Bernard Jr hitting 113 not out. Odean Smith took three for 29, and Daniel Ricketts, three for 23.

St Elizabeth were dismissed for 172, with Shamar Anderson bagging four for 51, and Ransford Merchant, three for 26. Howard Powell made 49 and Damion Ebanks, 33.

Batting a second time, Kensington declared at 131 for four for a lead of 203. Cassius Burton scored 47. St Elizabeth ended on 85 for two.

Meanwhile, at Nelson Oval, University of the West Indies (UWI) defeated Lucas by an innings and 59 runs.

Scores: Lucas 189 (Orain Linton five for 59) and 141 (Linton six for 44); UWI 389 (Rovman Powell 116, Chrishma Graham 110).
