Clarendon College, ‘Tegat’ look to add to status

With the majority of his players still eligible to play in this year's daCosta Cup schoolboy football competition, Clarendon College head coach Paul 'Tegat' Davis thinks this may just be the one to bring home the title they last held two seasons ago in 2014.

He said everything is in place to make a run for the title and that he has a core unit of players who are confident they can do so.

"We enter the competition to win, no doubt about that. Clarendon College has an exceptional history in the daCosta Cup and we hope to add to that legacy with a comprehensive run," Davis said.

Clarendon College is the holder of seven titles.

They went out at the quarter-final stage last year and from all accounts should be among the top teams in line to reach the final.

Clarendon College was drawn in Zone H, along with Claude McKay High, Edwin Allen, Knox College, Lennon High and Thompson Town.

Edwin Allen and Lennon High will provide their sternest test based on last season's results, but Davis is not taking anything for granted.

"Like us, every other team is looking to make a mark. That is why they are part of the competition. Therefore, we will not be letting our guard down again any of our opponents," he said.

"We will play our game and take the fight to them and once we do what we practise and coupled with our confidence and sound technical ability the sky is really the limit."
