Boys' Town pin hopes on 'Tuffy'

Veteran striker Jermain 'Tuffy' Anderson is expected to run out for Boys' Town against Montego Bay United this afternoon after signing from Waterhouse earlier this week.

Anderson, a former national striker, was on loan from Waterhouse to Mount Pleasant of St Ann. Boys' Town's president, Leon Mitchell, confirmed Anderson's move.

The 38-year-old has represented Granville, Village United, Seba United, Wadadah and also C D Aguila of El Salvador.

"We agreed the transfer with Waterhouse for the player. He has been training with us for the past two weeks and is very happy and committed to Boys' Town. Tuffy knows exactly what is required to save us from relegation," Mitchell told STAR Sports yesterday.

Boys' Town are in a desperate battle to avoid the drop from the nation's top league. With 12 games remaining in the preliminary stage, the Red Brigade are rooted at the bottom of the standings on 12 points, behind Sandals South Coast (16) and Montego Bay United (22).

RELEGATION

Anderson, who has saved Waterhouse from relegation in the past, is being looked to for another rescue act.
Coach Andrew Price said he could throw experienced Anderson into the game from the start.
"He could be available as early as tomorrow (today). It is possible that he could start, I don't know, but he will play a part," Price shared.
"Since training at Boys' Town, he has looked good. One thing I can tell you about Jermain is that he always keeps himself in good condition," Price said.
"We want people with vast amount of experience. He understands what is necessary and I believe that he has something to prove to Jamaica that he still has it to play football.
"The target is to get to the 10th-place team, which is MBU. It is important to beat them tomorrow and close the gap. We have 12 games that have not been played yet, so Iím confident. We have to live in hope. I believe that once we can start a run anything is possible, so we are just going to take it game by game," he added.
