Wehby wants track for Edwin Allen

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the GraceKennedy Group Don Wehby said that he has received a positive response from Minister of Sport Olivia Grange as he seeks assistance to install a synthetic running track at Edwin Allen High School, six-time Girls' Champs winners.

Wehby told STAR Sports that discussions with Grange have gone well, and he will be having another meeting with the sports minister very soon to drive the project forward.

"I have written to Minister [Olivia] 'Babsy' Grange, and she has, in fact, responded," said Wehby.

"The next step is for us to have another meeting to see how we can move the project forward in terms of giving the girls and boys of Edwin Allen a new track, and so, the ball is now in my court to follow up with her."

He continued: "I should have had the meeting already, but I have been very busy, but hopefully, in this month, I should be meeting with her."

Wehby pointed out, though, that no decision has been made as to who will be funding the project.

"We haven't reached that stage, but the first thing we need to do is to determine what is the best way to fund it," Wehby said.

During a one-on-one interview with STAR Sports following Edwin Allen's ISSA-GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships title celebrations in Frankfield, Clarendon, in March, Wehby said the institution has done well over the years and, therefore, deserves to have a proper track.
