Reggae Boyz head coach Theodore 'Tappa' Whitmore says there is no guarantee that midfielder Cardel Benbow and defender Shawn Lawes will be selected for the inaugural CONCACAF Nation's League in September.

Both players left for the United States last month without officially informing the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), this after they were selected as part of a 21-man training squad.

Whitmore told STAR Sports that he was unhappy with the move by the players.

"I am disappointed but at the end of the day, it's their choice. We can't make decisions for these players," said Whitmore.

SUFFERTHECONSEQUENCES

"There won't be any disciplinary action, but they have to suffer the consequences of not being in the team," he said. Benbow and Lawes represented Waterhouse during last season's Red Stripe Premier League competition.

Meanwhile, Reggae Boyz manager, Roy Simpson, in a recent interview with STAR Sports said that the players are fully aware they should inform the JFF of their whereabouts.

"National players travelling outside the country and players arriving in the country should let the JFF know. Even those coming for holidays, just let us know," he explained.

The national team will continue preparations for the inaugural CONCACAF Nation's League with friendly matches against Grenada and Barbados respectively next month.

The Reggae Boyz will play away to Grenada on August 17, before tackling Barbados three days later, in Barbados.
