Reynolds in charge at MBU?

Looking to rebuild after below par efforts over the past two seasons, Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) outfit Montego Bay United (MBU) appear to have made a big statement with the capture of highly rated coach Vassell 'Tutu' Reynolds.

Reynolds was spotted leading a MBU training session yesterday evening. While the club declined to give any confirmation when contacted yesterday, it is understood that there were in excess of 36 players, including returnees and newcomers, all seeking to catch the eyes of Reynolds.

The news comes just days after a report in Tuesday's STAR Sports, which stated that the two-time champions are under new leadership as the highly controversial Orville Powell has stepped aside as club president.

RELEGATION ZONE

Reynolds has become one of the most admired coaches in the west after guiding Rusea's High to the daCosta Cup crown last year over a star-studded Clarendon College team at Catherine Hall in Montego Bay.

He didn't stop there. He joined the RSPL outfit FC Reno midway the season as the technical director and helped to steer the club clear of relegation zone after they started slipping.

Reynolds, who is also a teacher at Rusea's, has been on a roll over the past three years, picking up trophies at the schoolboy football level. Before his arrival in the west, he led Wolmer's Boys to the Walker Cup title in 2015, then the rich FLOW Cup, referred to as the Champions League of schoolboy football, in 2016. He then took only a few months to win the hearts of the west by adding the daCosta Cup to his resume.

He does not have as glowing a track record at the senior level, but Reynolds led Humble Lion to the semi-finals of the RSPL in 2015 and also had three stints at Sporting Central Academy in efforts to keep them in top-flight football. Following his FLOW Cup success in 2016, he guided Old Harbour Bay United to the St. Catherine Major League title and qualification to the South Central Super League.
