Having failed to produce with the bat in the opening match, Jamaica Tallawahs batsman Ross Taylor is aiming for a big score when they face St Lucia Stars in the Caribbean Premier League T20 competition at Sabina Park today at 6 p.m.

The New Zealander, who is vice-captain of the Tallawahs, made a disappointing score of one, in team's four-wicket victory against Trinbago Knight Riders in their opening match last Friday.

However, the hard-hitting right-hander, told STAR Sports yesterday, that he did not have much practice prior to last Friday's game, but he has since adjusted to the conditions in the Caribbean and he plans to put on a show at Sabina Park today.

"I was a bit rusty in the first game, but I have started hitting the ball well now and I hope this can contribute to a win in the next two matches," said Taylor.

"I guess anytime you come to a new franchise, you want to score runs and win games and that is my aim with the Tallawahs," he said. "I think that the home crowd is going to play its part too, and, hopefully, this can help us to get cross the line."

The Stars are winless from their two matches this season. However, Taylor said they are not going to be underestimating their opponents.

"A wounded team is a very dangerous team when it comes to T20 cricket and so after losing their first two games, they are going to be very dangerous," said Taylor.

The vastly experienced Taylor, who has scored more than 5,000 runs in T20 competitions during his career, added that he has been helping to nurture the young players in the Tallawahs team.

"I think you have to pass on your knowledge and experience to the youngsters and that is part of my role in this team and I look forward to doing it," Taylor said.

"I am the vice-captain and so it is good to have some extra responsibility and so it is nice to win the last game. We have two games at home and the boys are very excited, especially, the local boys who are will be playing in front of family of friends," he said
