Michael Ricketts, president of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), says the head coaches of the national Under-15 and Under-17 teams will be announced this week.

The JFF boss told STAR Sports that the candidates were interviewed by the association's technical committee last week and the commitee made their recommendations to the board of directors for ratification.

"I know some coaches were interviewed last week, and I have spoken to the chairman of the technical committee, and I am now awaiting his recommendations," said Ricketts.

"I would think that the best of those who applied was interviewed," he said. I know that they did a written course test, an oral course, and then they did something practical, and so, we are looking at every aspect, every component of being a good coach," Ricketts said.

RIGHTPERSONS

He pointed out that the best candidates will be selected for both head coaching jobs because he has all the confidence in the abilities of the technical committee to decide on the right persons.

"I think if the board does not think that the best persons were selected by the technical committee, then they are not going to ratify these persons," Ricketts said. "However, hopefully, we will have the best candidates. I have no idea who the candidates are, but I have all confidence in my technical committee, and so, I am just hoping that we will get a good coach and a good assistant."

Ricketts added that it is important that a coach for the Under-17 team is installed now because this will give the team more time to prepare for Under-17 qualifiers, which are scheduled to begin early next year.

"The Under-17 qualifiers start some time between February and March, and so, we want to start preparing now and give them a little more time to prepare themselves for this tournament," Ricketts said
