Sandra Christie, general manager of Red Stripe Premier League strugglers Montego Bay United (MBU), said they will be pulling out all the stops to ensure that the club avoids relegation.

MBU, who have been having a very poor season, are currently at the bottom of the 12-team standings on 19 points. They have recorded one win in their last nine matches.

Christie told STAR Sports that with the recall of a number of their players from loan spells with other clubs, she is very optimistic that the club will do much in the remainder of the season.

“Montego Bay United is not accustomed to being in this position at all, so we are not comfortable in this position, and therefore you know that for the rest of the 10 games for round three, we will be putting it all out there,” Christie said. “We will keep fighting, because we are not going to end in relegation. We have already secured our players from early in the transfer window and they have been training and gelling. In terms of the strategy going forward, we just have to make sure that we execute them.”

MBU have recalled Deshane Beckford and Johann Weatherly from Harbour View, while goalkeeper Jacomeno Barrett has rejoined the club from Humble Lion. Sheldon McKoy has also joined MBU from Cavalier.

Christie added that the spirit in the camp is very high and everyone is committed to helping the club stave off relegation.

“The confidence level is high because we have been doing our meetings with the players to see where they are and they are very confident that they will be successful in avoiding relegation,” Christie noted.
