Morgan still has faith in slipping Arnett

Arnett Garden's attacker Marvin Morgan is convinced that the team has the quality players and the crucial 12th man to finish the regular season on a high and repeat what they did a few seasons ago, when they ended the regular season in sixth and went on to win the Red Stripe Premier League (RSPL) title.

After the departure of veterans such as Oneil 'Bigga' Thompson and Renae Lloyd, from the Arnett Gardens set-up, many including coach Jerome Waite have questioned the mental fortitude of the younger players. But Morgan is sure his side is equipped with players capable to taking them all the way and that it is just a matter of getting things right.

"From the season started, we haven't had a set 11 (players) or set squad because of injuries and that is why we haven't played fruitful all season. But we hope to have everything cured for the play-offs and possible for the championship," he said.

"But this has happened before and we prepared ourselves big for the back-end of the season. We have the fire power and the 12th man, which is the biggest in the league, so, of course, we can turn it around and it is important because we want to finish the season on a positive note. We always want to have a win going into the knockout round to give you a boost. So that is a motivation for us," he continued.

But even with the departure of experience and important figures such as Thompson, Lloyd and Keneil Hyde, Morgan believes Arnett still has the quality to compete with any team in the league. "Players have moved on and we have to move on. Players come and go but the club will always be there, and with the calibre players we have, we know we can go and do it. You cannot win everything. But I am confident that what we have can do it," he said.

But Morgan's hope suffered another blow yesterday as Arnett lost 1-0 to Mount Pleasant FA and now is occupying the final play-off spot as UWI's victory moved them up to fifth in the standing.
