Veteran Tulloch believes in H’View youngsters
Striker McKauly Tulloch, who returned to Harbour View FC in January after seven years overseas, expects the current crop of Harbour View youngsters to come good for the club.
Tulloch, who played between El Salvador, Mexico and Guatemala since 2015, said his decision to leave Guatemalan club Deportivo Reu was just a need to experience something new. But even though his time at Harbour View may not be long, he believes the club has some very exciting talent that can help it return to prominence in local football.
"I felt I exhausted my time in Central America, after seven years I wanted to try something new. At the time I was supposed to go to Asia but some things went wrong and I said why not go back to your parent club and help them get back up in the Premier League, and, with my experience, I see a possibility for it. Few other clubs in Jamaica had contacted me when they heard I was coming but you know Harbour View is my club, so my first priority was to come back to Harbour View," he said.
"It (low league standings) is very unfamiliar territory for Harbour View. I am not used to being here. When I came I didn't know much of the players but I saw a few long time friends like Romario Campbell, Nicholas Beckett and Dicoy Williams, some of the players I went to battle with over the years and that gave me a bit of confidence, along with coach Ludlow Bernard, who has coached us since we were kids.
"But the players here are some young and exciting talent and you can expect really good things coming from this crop of players. It can be this season and it can be in a couple of seasons from now, but the talent I see here is very positive," he stated.
Important role
Harbour View are ninth in the standings with 31 points. They sit four points off the top six and Tulloch is convinced they will be in the play-offs when the third round comes to a close eight games from now as he believes he will play an important role in the team's quest to qualify for the top six.
"I see the talent here and the guys are hungry and confident, so I definitely see us making the top six. Once you get into the top six, it's a whole new season and anything can happen from there. We are not far off, only about four points from sixth place, so I see us making the top six and the team is very confident," he said.
"We are on a break and the coach will get more time to spend with the team to know players and develop a chemistry and me being here with my experience and goal- scoring ability, I hope I can make a difference as immediately as possible. So I am here to help them in the goal-scoring department and with my leadership to guide the young ones.," said the 28-year-old, who is yet to net in his two matches to date.
"I have played two games and I am not the one to put a limit on the number of goals scored. I just try to get a much goals as possible and three points is always the objective, whether I score or create, as long as the team wins.," he said.
