Humble Lion head coach Andrew Price says he knew it was going to be a tough Jamaica Premier League (JPL) season after his team's late start to preseason preparation.

However, he does not believe he is getting full commitment and effort from his players, after Monday's 2-1 defeat to Arnett Gardens, their third straight loss of the season, at the Stadium East field.

Price said the players need to look into themselves and work harder. "It is not a good run of form. We will have to do some soul-searching and work harder," he said.

"I knew it was going to be difficult. We started training later than the other teams and I warned that we are going to have a lot of injuries. We have a lot of injuries right now so we have to be playing who is available," he revealed

Take our chances

"But we are just not getting enough effort. We didn't do it enough to win the game, and we got opportunities where we could get something out of the game," he added.

"We have to now do better at stopping people from scoring and take our chances when we get them and we didn't do any of the two today. We will continue working hard and training hard until we get the desired results. All is not lost, the defence is something we will have to continue to work on," he insisted.

"We are getting fitter with every week that passes but we must now find ways to win games.

"We have the fitness to run for 90 minutes but now we have to concentrate for 90 minutes and get the job done," he continued.

"It is not worrying. I knew it was going to be difficult. I was disappointed with the performance today but we will keep at it and we are going to get better as the season progresses," he concluded.

Humble Lion took the lead after five minutes through former Arnett player Vishunal Harris. Jonoy Cunningham equalised for Arnett in the 15th minute and Renaldo Cephas sealed the win, with a strike 15 minutes from the end, for the Alex Thomas-coached team.

Humble Lion remain without a point after three JPL matches this season, while Arnett Gardens collected their first points of the season after their first win from two games.
