ISSA President Keith Wellington says the Government has granted approval to use a new system for the purchasing of tickets for the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships from April 5-9.

The Government had instructed organisers of the Gibson McCook Relays to use Amber Innovations for ticket sales, but there were complaints about delays in its functioning. The meet targeted an attendance of 10,000 spectators but had a turnout of just more than 2,000.

Wellington told STAR Sports that ISSA has designed its own ticketing system for Champs.

"No, we won't be using that system (Amber Innovation) because we would be using our own system and the public will be appraised by the end of the week as to how they will be able to access the tickets," he said.

"We wouldn't be using it if we thought it wasn't good. I am sure that it will ease some of the pressure compared to the system that was used for Gibson. And yes, we are confident that this is the right direction for us for Champs."
