Arnett Gardens coach Paul Davis was pleased with the display from his team after the 'Junglists' defeated Waterhouse FC 3-2 on penalties in the Boom El Clasico at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex on Monday. The teams had played to a 1-1 scoreline at the end of full-time.

Gerald Neil Jr headed Arnett in front in the 71st minute but Waterhouse restored parity when Donte Duncan rifled home a shot from the top of the box.

Apart from the $1 million prize money, Davis was also very encouraged by what he saw from his team.

"It was good to see my players in action. We started preparations late and this is our second game against a premier league team in preseason," Davis said on Monday night. "It was a high quality game and we wanted to get our hands on the new trophy. The guys deserved to win and I was pleased with the young players. We just need to be more patient and get numbers in the box so we can capitalise more on our chances," Davis added.

Arnett dominated the first half and had numerous chances to take the lead but their attackers were wasteful in front of goal.

Their best chance was when veteran striker Fabian Reid failed to convert the spot kick.

Arnett's dominance continued into the second half and Ajuma Johnson and Rushike Kelson wasted good opportunities.

They eventually broke the deadlock when Neil Jr headed home from a corner.

Kelson then missed another great chance to put Arnett two goals up, and they were made to pay as shortly after Waterhouse responded with their first real attack of the half and Devonte Walker slammed home a loose ball from the edge of the box in the 75th minute to tie the score at 1-1.

Despite giving up numerous chances throughout the game, Waterhouse coach Marcel Gayle was impressed with his players' resilience.

"I thought my charges held their nerve. Coming to the 'Jungle' wasn't easy. But we held our nerve and got a couple of chances. Goalkeeper Kemar Foster was brilliant but at the end of the day we only lost on penalties," he said.

In two earlier games on the Bell/Ziadie Memorial matchday St George's College Old Boys beat Christian Ambassadors 4-3 and Masters and Celebrities and Entertainers Invitational played to a 4-4 draw.
