Spinners from St Catherine CA and Clarendon had a field day yesterday, accounting for the majority of the wickets to fall as Clarendon got the better of their neighbours by 36 runs in a low-scoring affair in their Kingston Wharves Under-15 Zone D clash at Port Esquivel.

Clarendon posted 75 and restricted the 10-man St Catherine to 39 in 21.2 overs.

It was poor batting than spin wizardry that accounted for the wickets as leg spinner Davouney Davidson bagged five wickets for 27 runs in restricting their Clarendon counterparts. Danjay Larmond bagged six wickets for 15 runs in St Catherine's replay, as the hosts played a man short.

Davidson had four victims caught in the outfield as only two Clarendon batters made double figures.

No. 9 batsman Talbert Wallace hit two fours in his top score of 16, which came off 20 balls, while captain Kavel Bailey got to 12 before he was run out.

St Catherine didn't get going in their run chase and were in tatters at 25 for five in the 14th over, with Larmond using his off-breaks to perfection to pick up the first four wickets to fall.

The right-handed Larmond would eventually finish with six wickets for 15 runs from 10.2 overs as all the St Catherine batsmen failed to get to double figures.

Extras top scored, with 14 as Bailey and his teammates celebrated the win, despite the game's low-scoring nature.

"We wanted to bat first as we did, but not everything went as planned as we didn't make as many runs as we would have liked. What was important is that our bowling did the job in the end, which also shows that our bowling can defend small totals," Bailey said.
