Portmore United chalked up back-to-back wins on their home turf as they got the better of neighbours Dunbeholden FC 2-0 in their Jamaica Premier League encounter at the Ferdie Neita Complex yesterday.

Visitors Dunbeholden had their work cut out from as early as the 12th minute as Rohan Brown was shown a straight red card by referee Carvel Banton after elbowing Portmore's defender Stephen Young.

The man advantage failed to spark Portmore, who sat back and allowed Dunbeholden to press; however, they matched the visitors on the counter just before the half-time break as new signing Martin Davis finished off a neat build-up in the 41st minute.

The second half had Portmore asserting themselves more. That constant press also saw them being caught out, which resulted in defender Emelio Rousseau receiving a straight red card in the 70th minute, also for violent conduct.

With both teams down to 10 players, Portmore didn't let up on the tiring Dunbeholden backline, and the hosts would cap off a decent outing when substitute Omar Reid tapped home from close range in the 85th minute to seal the second home win for Portmore United and their coach Phillip Williams.

"It was a comfortable win for us in terms of run of play despite the last 15 minutes getting ugly, but we managed to hold on, which I am grateful for," said Williams.

Assistant coach of Dunbeholden FC Ricardo Smith lamented his team's loss.

"A lot of things are not going right for us, and when you play three games and don't score, you will not win. That is our main problem right now. We are not getting the ball into the back of the net, and we need to address that on the training ground," Smith said.
