It was a night to forget for Molynes United, as they were taken apart in a 4-1 drumming by a fiery Arnett Gardens yesterday in the Wray and Nephew-sponsored Jamaica Premier League.

Hat-trick hero Fabian Reid and Shai Smith proved to be the architects of Molynes' demise, while Jason Wright scored the consolation goal for the night's runners-up.

Arnett started from the whistle with guns blazing and struck gold early in the game when a deflected cross from Reid caught goalkeeper Peter Harrison unaware as it looped into his net in the third minute.

Arnett continued their barrage and nearly doubled their lead in the 25th minute, but Smith failed to keep his effort on target.

Arnett would rue their missed opportunities in the first half when, on the stroke of half-time, Molynes capitalised on a poor clearance from goalkeeper Asher Hutchinson to draw level.

Hutchinson's intended clearance found Jermy Nelson at the edge of his box. Nelson played in his captain Wright, who made no mistake and made it level at the break.

Arnett started the second half with renewed vigour and regained their lead within a minute of kick-off when Reid grabbed his second of the game after finishing from six yards out.

Smith added Arnett's third in the 70th minute as he beat the onrushing Harrison for a simple finish into an empty net.

Reid closed out the night with his hat-trick in time added on when he broke through the Molynes' defence and slotted home with ease.

Arnett's assistant coach, Garnet Lawrence, was happy after the match.

"I'm very pleased. We've been doing well in training this week. The intensity has been raised, and the coach has shown the team how important it is to return to winning ways. We're now two wins on the trot again, and we hope to continue," Lawrence said.

Meanwhile, Molynes head coach Jermaine Thomas believes they lost because of defensive mistakes.

"It's a tough one, but I thought we played well. I don't think the score is a true reflection of the game. We were in it. It was 1-1 in the first half. I think we made silly mistakes and paid for it," Thomas said.

In the earlier match at the same venue, Tivoli and Cavalier played to a 0-0 draw.
