Tivoli Garden's defensive hardman Richard 'Mad Dawg' Brown is relishing his match-up against Waterhouse's striker Javane Bryan when the Jamaica Premier League (JPL) quarter-finals get under way on Monday.

Brown has been making his presence felt in the JPL this season and has denied the Waterhouse ace twice already.

Bryan, with 14 goals, is the closest challenger to Tivoli's and the league's leading scorer Justin Dunn, who has 16, and Brown said helping his teammate take the Golden Boot is also a big motivation.

"I am a main man in the team. I am the man marker. I am responsible for taking out the striker, the main player. Once I get my job done, I take out a big piece of their chances. I am up for Monday," Brown told STAR Sports.

"We played Waterhouse twice and they didn't score against us. Javane Bryan is one of the leading scorers in the league, and he is chasing Justin Dunn, so once I can keep him quiet, Justin can extend his lead over him. I am up for that task come Monday," Brown said.

RUTHLESS DISPLAY

In the team's last meeting at Drewsland, the central defender was at his ruthless best, and that is the type of display he is looking to replicate during the play-off stage of the competition.

"I am one of the fan favourites and they call me the 'Mad Dawg', which gives me the urge each day to give 100 per cent, because I don't want to let down the fans, my family and the whole community. When I am out there, I give it my all.

"All season we have been going strong, so going into the quarter-final we are geared up to get the job done. The lads are well prepared tactically, physically and mentally, and we are just putting in the work leading up to Monday's game," he said.

The 23-year-old Brown, who formerly represented Cavalier, has been out of the league for four seasons, for reasons he wishes not to disclose. He thanks coach Jerome Waite for getting his career back on track.

"I was out due to circumstances, but I regained my confidence and belief, and said I was going to return to the Premier League this season. It was one of my dreams for Jerome Waite to coach me; so seeing Jerome Waite come to Tivoli, I decided to give it a shot.

"I came to Tivioli, put in the work, performed; and I have to give thanks to Jerome Waite, who made me the player I am today," Brown said.

"Going forward, we just want to maintain the momentum, keep on fighting, and see if we can win the title in the end."
