Jamaica U18 suffer heavy defeat to Turkey

Jamaica Under-18 Reggae Boyz suffered a heavy 10-1 defeat to Turkey in their second match at the UEFA Friendship Tournament yesterday at the Arslan Zeki Demirci Sports Complex.

Goals from Mustafa Hekimolu, Gokdeniz Gurpuz, Muhammed Kaya and Emre Gokay, along with individual braces from Cagri Fedai, Emirhan Arkutcu and Recep Yalin Dilek completed the rout.

Orane Watson scored the lone consolation goal in the 88th minute for Jamaica after the onslaught from the Turkish attackers.

Fenerbahce striker Fedai opened the scoring in the 11th minute of play for Turkey and Jamaica were down 6-0 by the end of the first half.

Turkey started the second half like they did the first, scoring their seventh goal in the 64th minute off a strike from Galatasaray forward Dilek, who returned to score their final goal in the 79th minute.

The defeat is Jamaica's second loss in as many games after their opening 2-1 loss against Saudi Arabia.

Jamaica sit at the bottom of the table with zero point.

In their next game, the junior Reggae Boyz face Mali to complete Group A action as they seek their first win.

Mali have recorded a 2-2 draw against Turkey and a 4-2 win over Saudi Arabia already in the tournament.
